I worked in the following industries amongst others: woollen mills, solicitors, crane hire and paper manufacture. Each had their own cultures and customer base. I studied for formal qualifications when my children grew older and have an HNC in Computing with another HNC Secretarial Studies.
I was always interested in driving and passed the advanced test when I joined the local group of advanced motorists. I stayed on as an observer and represented the group on the local accident prevention committee. When a specialist civilian post became available with Grampian Police I was encouraged to apply. I worked with them first as an accident prevention officer and then we were designated as road safety officers. In that role I completed a Diploma in Accident and Safety management. A greater understanding of ergonomics, behaviour and analysis lead me to branch out into occupational health and I am a technician member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Supporting people had become a habit and it was a great surprise and pleasure to be awarded a fellowship of the Institute of Road Safety Officers by my peers for supporting them. Grampian Police also introduced me to NLP, they paid for the training for a number of people from all ranks. We had to apply with the reason we were interested and how we may go on to use NLP. Little did I know that my world would never be quite the same again, in a nice way. The tools we were given are so simple, but understanding ourselves and making best use of them took many hours of practice. I had a need to understand how things work and seeing the results of NLP techniques on health and behaviour lead me to find out more about the body. Back I went to study, I have a Diploma in Complementary Therapies which filled in many gaps in anatomy, and this has reinforced my belief in NLP as a powerful set of tools. There is time in my life for fun too, and dancing of all types features at least once or twice a week. Walking and exploring, meeting people and new hobbies help to fill the remaining hours.
